Our experienced forensic engineers are the forerunners in expert independent assessments to the cause of structural failure over a large range of sectors inresidential, commercial and industrial developments Areas of Expertise
Intrax provides a range of comprehensive services for a broad spectrum of stakeholders within the building and engineering fields.
Structural Failure InvestigationsIn instances where a structure suffers an impact failure due to cars colliding with buildings or where there are failures to structural members due to excessive loading or under designed members Intrax can be called in to provide expert analysis and recommendations.
Dispute ResolutionOur Forensic division can be called into disputes between builders and occupiers in regards to poor workmanship on the builder's behalf or poor maintenance on the occupiers behalf. Backed by years of experience, we deliver a timely, concise report including causes, observations, conclusions and remediation recommendations.
VCAT ReportsWhere a resolution has not been reached, Intrax can submit a report on behalf of the client, used as an impartial independent report outlining comprehensive findings, clarifying any dispute and providing the arbitrator enough evidence to allocate liability to the relevant party.
Expert WitnessIn addition to VCAT reports Intrax provides the scope to attend any dispute hearings on behalf of the client and provide statements pertaining to the cause and recommendations of why the dilapidation exists on site. Our Forensic engineers may also be called to attend hearings as an independent and impartial witness, this is usually done on behalf of the legal counsel of the client and is requested when VCAT proceedings have commenced.
Dilapidation ReportsSharing a similar scope to Forensic reports for dispute resolution, these are generally used as a guide for repair when liability has been accepted by a party, Intrax can provide reports detailing observations, causes, conclusions and remediation recommendations.
Building Maintenance AdviceWhether taking a verbal or written form, sometimes as part of a dilapidation report, our building advice is centered on providing clear answers to localised issues usually caused by a single problem. Additionally, this type of advice may be called upon when prevention advice is required.
Feasibility Assessments (Developments, Modifications and Extensions)Intrax can provide specialised advice generally required when a feasibility study is required to assess if there is the potential to outgrow the capital growth of a site when a modification or extension is being considered. A further expansion to this service is the provision of a feasibility study on the potential capital gain of a major commercial development such as an aged care facility or shopping centre. This includes a forecast of initial rates of return, net present values of a development can also be assessed.
Underpinning DesignThorough Structural Design Documentation can be provided when underpinning work is required, generally required in instances where foundation soils have settled or foundations have been undermined.
Footing ProbesIntrax provides expert use of footing probes to confirm the founding depth of a building's footings, confirming founding soils, the size of foundations and any details pertaining to the foundation of a structure.
Soil TestComplemented by our Geotechnical division, Intrax can be called in to conduct soil testing to confirm the ground conditions of a site and the reactivity of these soils as well as check the advice another geotechnical company has given along with their recommendations.
Deterioration of Reinforced Concrete and pre-slab InspectionsThis service is focused on providing advice centered around the cause and effect of deteriorated concrete and its interaction with the surrounding soils. Including pre-slab inspections to confirm that the concrete design documentation has been followed by the contractors on site, our engineers will confirm minimum founding depths and material is achieved and an adequate amount of reinforcement steel is in place.
General Building AdviceAimed towards the owner-builder but highly advantageous to most people involved in a construction project, this pre-construction service gives an expert opinion on the construction methods used during the building process. This generally alleviates any ambiguities in a construction method and clearly outlines the best possible procedures required to perform the task. In addition, this service can be used to include mitigating procedures that will reduce the risk of dilapidation in the future ensuring Engineering Confidence.
Building Defect AssessmentsThis service provides advice to mitigate issues around either poor workmanship, or manufacturing defects. Generally required when a contractor has followed the correct construction/installation procedure where defects are still evident.
Quality InspectionsProviding peace of mind our quality inspections, similar to our general building advice, can be provided post construction looking at elements to assess whether the construction method used is adequate and correct.
Fire/Storm/Flood Damage AssessmentsWhere a structure has been damaged by a natural disaster (ex. earthquake, flooding) or by fire the Forensic division can be called in to assess the extent of damage to a structure. |
